Barbara Levy Landes Appointed PBS' New CFO
ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 13, 2003 --Barbara Levy Landes has been named the new senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). A highly skilled professional with more than 10 years experience serving as the CFO of media, entertainment and consulting businesses, Ms. Landes will report directly to Wayne Godwin, PBS' executive vice president and chief operating officer. She will begin her tenure on Monday, March 17.
As PBS' primary financial executive, Ms. Landes will be responsible for fostering the financial activities and fiscal health of the organization and will serve as chief strategic planning officer. She will play a key role in assessing new business opportunities and revenue streams, as well as developing strategic alliances and partnerships. Ms. Landes will also focus on internal financial performance.

Ms. Landes comes to PBS from America Online, where she served as vice president, Business Planning, AOL Broadband Service Group. During her time at AOL in 2000, she has also held the positions of vice president, Performance Management, AOL Vertical Markets Group/AOL Inc. and vice president, Strategic Businesses, AOL Interactive Services.
From 1999-2000, Ms. Landes was executive vice president and chief financial officer at AverStar, a fast-growing information technology company that served the government sector. She spent 1994-1998 as the vice president, Finance and chief financial officer at Watson Wyatt Worldwide, an international consulting firm with 3,600 employees located in 80 offices throughout 38 countries.
Ms. Landes has extensive experience in broadcast media. From 1989-1994, she served as the senior vice president, Finance and Operations of WWOR-TV (UPN 9 in New York City). Part of her tenure there overlapped with her service as the chief financial officer and treasurer of WWOR's parent company Pinelands, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange company. She has also held top positions at NBC, including vice president, Finance and Administration, NBC Radio and vice president, Financial Planning and Analysis, NBC Corporate. Ms. Landes launched her career at CBS.
A member of the National Board of Directors of Girls Incorporated, she is treasurer and chair, Financial Oversight Committee. Ms. Landes is on the Board of Trustees of the Suburban Hospital Foundation, where she serves on the finance committee. She is also a member of the audit and compliance committee of the Suburban Hospital Healthcare System. Ms. Landes holds an MBA from the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Washington University.
